Baritone Yohan Ji started his academic studies at the Kaywon Arts High School between 2006 and 2009. He completed his vocal training at Korea's highest ranked university, Seoul National University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree and is currently finishing his master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg where he is working under Prof. Susanne Kelling and for interpretation of song under Prof. Marcelo Amaral.
In his home country, he established his career by placing 2nd at the 5th Deutsch Lieder Wettbewerb 2008, placing 3rd at the 30th Korean Voice Competition in 2017 and winning the 23rd Schubert Lieder Wettbewerb in 2009.
Early on, he got inspired by the director of the Seoul Metropolitan Opera which led him to work as a chorus singer and an assistant director on 7 different operas for more than 200 times.
In South Korea, he sang the part of Germont in La Traviata and in March 2021 he will star as Don Giovanni in the HfM Nuremberg's interpretation of Don Giovanni.
During his career, Yohan Ji has worked with many masters in various fields of music. He participated as an alumni with a full scholarship at the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto in Italy.
He joined in master classes with various conductors, vocalists and coaches, such as Maestro Richard Bonynge, Barbara Frittoli, Roberto Frontali, Jonathan Papp and many more.
He also participated in the master class of renown German Soprano Edda Moser and will star in the Toronto Summer Music festival in July.
