Biography

Ekaterina Kudryavtseva was born in Saint Petersburg (Russia) and earned her doctorate at the local State Conservatory.

 

She completed her studies with distinction in the subjects of opera, chamber music singing, and acting. During this time, she gave numerous concerts in the most prestigious concert halls of Russia, including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. In addition, she had several television and radio appearances.

 

Subsequently, she became a doctoral student under Prof. Kira Isotova while working as a soloist in the ensemble of the Conservatory's own opera theater and in numerous concert appearances. Ekaterina Kudryavtseva attended several master classes by notable personalities such as Patricia Wise (Vienna), Ileana Cotrubas, Diane Zola (Dallas Opera), Robert Cowart (Coach Metropolitan Opera young artist program & Juilliard School), and Roberto Bellotti (Milano).

 

Ekaterina Kudryavseva has won various internationally recognized singing competitions, such as the Antonin Dvorak Competition / Czech Republic; the Saint Petersburg / Russia Singing Competition, where she was also awarded the Hope of Russia Special Prize; the Amnesty Nightingale Chamber Music Competition in Kaliningrad / Russia - plus the Special Prize for the best Mozart interpretation; the singing competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg / Germany, after which she was cast for the role of KONSTANZE (The Abduction from the Seraglio). In the competition for Young Opera Singers by Riccardo Zandonai, Ekaterina Kudryavtseva won the Premio Speciale award in Riva del Garda / Italy.

 

During Ekaterina Kudryavseva's engagement at the State Opera in Saint Petersburg she sang LUCIA in Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), GILDA in Rigoletto (Verdi), VIOLETTA in La Traviata (Verdi), and DONNA ANNA in Don Giovanni (Mozart).



Since 2010 she has lived in Germany. In addition to numerous guest appearances in various opera houses, the singer has been a permanent member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater Braunschweig since 2010, where she sang the roles of MICHAELA in Carmen (Bizet), ROSINA in The Barber of Seville (Rossini), FIORDILIGI in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), ANN TRULOVE in The Rake's Progress (Stravinsky), and GILDA in Rigoletto (Verdi).

 

For her artistic achievements, Ekaterina Kudryavtseva was awarded the prize for Young Theatre Artists of the "Gesellschaft der Staatstheaterfreunde in Braunschweig e.V." In 2012, she was a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association.

 

Ekaterina Kudryavtseva celebrated great success at the Braunschweig open-air gala production of La Traviata as VIOLETTA on the Burgplatz under the baton of Alexander Joel. In 2015, she performed in Dresden at the invitation of the Dresden Philharmonic under the direction of Konrad Junghänel.

 

With the Opera Canada Symphony Orchestra and Opera Canada Chorus, she performed at the Toronto Roy Thomson Hall under the baton of Michelangelo Mazza.

 

Ekaterina Kudryavtseva performs a wide repertoire of operas, oratories and concerts. Numerous guest performances and concerts, both on German and European stages, have led to performances with renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Tugan Sokhiev, Ingo Ingensand, Alexander Soddy, Alexander Joel, Konrad Junghänel, Michelangelo Mazza, and with world-famous directors like u.a. Peter Mussbach, Dietrich Hilsdorf, David Hermann, Thaddeus Strassberger, Roland Schwab, Christopher Alden, Johannes Erath, Lotte de Beer.
